Mike Green Season in Review: Great Start, Horrible End!

Mike Green Crashing In To The Boards!

The regular season was as good as it could possibly get for Mike. He did have less goals than last year, but he did have career highs in assists (57) and points (76). More importantly, he also was a career high plus 39, which is amazing, he finished 3rd in the category in the league.

He played in 75 of the teams 82 games, and averaged almost 25 and a half minutes of ice time a game.

He was nominated for the NHL Foundation award for his charity and community work as well as the Norris Trophy for best defenseman for a second season in a row.

Unfortunately there were a few things that weren’t that great this year, starting with his omission from the Canadian Olympic team and ending with his early exit from the NHL Playoffs.

In the 7 post season games, Mike had no goals, 3 assists, was plus one and had 12 minutes in penalties, needless to say it wasn’t a success.

Green opted not to play for Canada at the World Championship in Germany because of a wrist injury, that had been nagging him since April 3rd.

Here are Mike’s thoughts on the season:

You can only move forward from here, and hope you learnt enough and can apply it to next season, like the Penguins did the seasons before winning the Stanley Cup.
