Puck drops at 7pm tonight, and just like the other 16 games after this one, it’s a must win game for the Washington Capitals. This is their 6th and final meeting of the season between these Southeast division rivals. The Caps won the first three, but the Canes won the last two.
It was a weekend to forget for the Washington Capitals, right in the middle of the NHL Playoff race, they not only lose two straight games, but get shutout in both games. At least Sunday’s effort in the 1-0 loss was much better than the disaster against New Jersey Friday night when they lost 5-0.
What a difference 5 minutes and 4 seconds can make! with less than three and a half minutes left in regulation, the New York Islanders were leading 2-0, but then Troy Brouwer scored twice in just over 3 minutes to tie it, and Ovechkin scored the OT game winner just 1:31 into the extra frame.
It was a successful weekend for the Washington Capitals and Mike Green. They beat the Montreal Canadiens 4-1 on Friday night and then the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday by a score of 4-2. Mike Green had no points, but was a combined plus 3.

Finally Mike Green returned and played a “full” game without incident Saturday night in a 2-1 loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning.
Mike Green spoke to the media after an optional practice he took part in today. He spoke about watching instead of playing and how he thinks the adaptation to Coach Dale Hunter’s system.
