Mike Green didn’t skate this morning, which likely means he won’t play tonight, but still no official word on his status for tonight or in general. The Capitals are hosting the Pittsburgh Penguins tonight, and the game will be nationally televised in both Canada and the US, on TSN2 and NBC Sports respectively.
The Washington Capitals without Mike Green and Nicklas Backstrom, lost last night to the Los Angeles Kings 5-2, which was the same score of their loss Saturday to the San Jose Sharks.
It’s not really surprising that two players which are “day-to-day” won’t be in the line up tonight, Mike Green and Nicklas Backstrom. Both may skate at the optional skate tomorrow, but either way it means nothing, they are both day-to-day and that mean absolutely nothing when coming from the Caps…
Mike Green left the game after only 2 shits in the second period with “groin tightness” according to Coach Hunter. The Capitals lost 5-2 ending their 4 game winning streak but continuing their losing streak in San Jose, they haven’t won a game there since 1993!
Mike Green missed both games against the Sharks last season, and has only ever played twice against them, Green has never scored against them. The Capitals are in San Jose for a 10:30 PM EST game tonight.
Mike Green finally made his return last night from his groin injury, and even if he didn’t play remarkable, it was great to see him out there. Ovechkin scored his 7th goal in as many games and the Capitals beat the Flames 3 to 1.
Mike Knuble played in his 1000th NHL game last night, Alex Ovechkin along with 3 other Capitals score and Washington wins 4-1 against the Nashville Predators last night.
Yesterday, Mike Green skated alone before everyone else, today he skated with his teammates, but it was the morning workout, not a full practice. It’s a step in the right direction, but unless a miracle happens he won’t be in the line up tonight when the Capitals host the Nashville Predators.
The chances were there for the Capitals, and other than a few shifts, they played a complete and responsible game, and it paid off in the end as they beat the Winnipeg Jets.
