Washington Capitals shutout twice in three games!

Up until this pas Tuesday when the Capitals got shutout 3-0 by the New York Islanders they hadn’t been shutout in a game this season, and now only a few days later they have been shutout again, this time at the hands of the Carolina Hurricanes.

This is the fourth meeting between the divisional rivals, and the Caps have won the first three games by a combined score of 11 to 5. Mike Green scored his only game winning goal of the season in OT against Carolina back on October 8th when Washington won 4-3.

I’m going to the game tonight in my hometown of Montreal to watch the Caps take on the Habs, unfortunately Mike Green won’t take part in the game as his recovery from abdominal surgery starts today.

The Washington Capitals will be taking the ice tonight without Mike Green and Nicklas Backstrom, which has been the recent trend, but it hasn’t stopped them from winning 3 in a row. Tonight they are hosting the New York Islanders and will be hoping to get their fourth victory in a row and 8th in their last 10 to put them back in first place in the South East Divison.

Mike Green is on the long term injury reserve, and his nick name is Game Over, because of the amount of game winning goals he got in one season, well yesterday the Capitals won 2-1 and Dmitry Orlov got his first career NHL goal and it was the game winner.

Capitals Mike Green placed on Long Term Injury Reserve

Yesterday, the Washington Capitals placed Mike Green on the long term injury reserve, meaning he will miss a minimum 24 days or 10 games. That means Green won’t be allowed to return to the line up until February 1st when the Capitals are in Florida.

The injured Washington Capitals beat the injured Pittsburgh Penguins last night 1-0. There is still no news on Mike Green’s status and Alex Ovechkin is named to the NHL All-Star game for a fifth time.

Mike Green didn’t skate this morning, which likely means he won’t play tonight, but still no official word on his status for tonight or in general. The Capitals are hosting the Pittsburgh Penguins tonight, and the game will be nationally televised in both Canada and the US, on TSN2 and NBC Sports respectively.

It’s not really surprising that two players which are “day-to-day” won’t be in the line up tonight, Mike Green and Nicklas Backstrom. Both may skate at the optional skate tomorrow, but either way it means nothing, they are both day-to-day and that mean absolutely nothing when coming from the Caps…
